Do You Want to Make a Difference to The World But Not Sure How?

Look at the newspaper on any given day and you will see evidence that the world is not in very good shape. War, terrorism (and of course the war on terrorism), murders, robberies, political strife, dishonesty everywhere, injustice, poverty and greed - and the list goes on. Our lives seem to be at the beck and call of politicians and huge corporations whose ethics and intentions are highly questionable. And this doesn't even start to scratch the surface!

Communication and technology has literally swamped us with information and images of our world. It is truly overwhelming. Is it any wonder then that we, as individuals, feel helpless to change anything given the magnitude of the problem? After all, we all have responsibilities, jobs, payments to make, mouths to feed, people to see and things to do. And in between times, we also want to have some fun, relax and basically just chill out! We tell ourselves that we aren't really cut out for changing the world; we don't have the skills, the money or the time. Better leave it to the experts or to those who are cut out for that sort of stuff.

But here's the thing: There are no experts out there changing the world; there is only you and me.

Gandhi said 'We must become the change we most desire in the world.' It requires us to make a stand and play a bigger game in life. A life where we are committed to a common or universal good rather than just getting home in time for our favourite TV show. A mistake we often make is thinking we have to do it all on our own. Not only that, we also think we have to do BIG things in order to make a difference. This is not the case at all.

It's the little things in life that make a difference. A smile, a kind word, a helping hand, a note of congratulations. You have probably done all of these and much more in your life. The issue is not that these things don't happen in the world; it's that we don't value or place much emphasis on them. I honestly believe that you have already made a huge difference in the world; what's missing is your own and others' acknowledgement of it.

Imagine what it would be like if you could share your everyday good deeds with other like-minded people. Imagine getting acknowledgement, support and guidance from people who are inspired by what you and they can contribute to the world. Imagine how different life could be in your family, at your workplace, in your community when you are acknowledged and encouraged for your positive contribution. And imagine the possibilities when two or more people join forces to create a project that touches hundreds, if not thousands, of peoples' lives.

This is the purpose and mission of the 'Play a Bigger Game' communities: To create an unconditionally supportive environment where we can learn and grow together; where our participation facilitates the transformation of our lives and the lives of others. And I am inviting you to join me on this journey.
